Oorspronkelijk Engels actrice. Geboren in Liverpool als dochter van een Spaanse advocaat en een Engelse moeder, werd Medina zowel in de Britse cinema als in Hollywood vooral gecast in mediterrane of Latijns-Amerikaanse rollen. Vooral bekend als de nachtclubdanseres die miljardair met geheugenverlies Orson Welles wil verleiden in Mr. Arkadin/Confidential Report (Welles, 1955). Debuteerde in de Elstree-studio’s, als figurant in Dinner at the Ritz (Harold D. Schuster, 1937) en met een kleine rol in Mr. Satan (Arthur B. Woods, 1938). Aanvankelijk vooral bekend door haar voluptueuze schoonheid, in titels als Double or Quits (Roy William Neill, 1938), The Day Will Dawn (Harold French, 1942), The First of the Few/Een van de weinigen (Leslie Howard, 1942), They Met in the Dark (Carl Lamac, 1943), Hotel Reserve (Lance Comfort, Max Greene en Victor Hanbury, 1944), Don’t Take It to Heart (tegenover haar eerste echtgenoot Richard Greene; Jeffrey Dell, 1944),
