Amerikaans acteur, broer van de acteurs Timothy en Joseph Bottoms. Vooral bekend geworden als de surfende militair Lance Johnson in Apocalypse Now (Francis Ford Coppola, 1979). Debuteerde tegenover zijn broer Timothy in The Last Picture Show (Peter Bogdanovich, 1971). Ook in Zandy's Bride (Jan Troell, 1974), The Outlaw Josey Wales (Clint Eastwood, 1976), Bronco Billy (Eastwood, 1980), Gardens of Stone (Coppola, 1987) en Seabiscuit (Gary Ross, 2003).
